Pillowcase Instructions:

Materials needed for a standard size pillowcase:
1/4 yard for top of case
2" for accent piece
3/4 yard for main pillow case
pins, thread, and sewing machine
All yardage is based on material 45" wide and is to be used as the full width of the material.

Directions: Unfold and press the 1/4 yard piece of fabric, place on working surface with RIGHT side of fabric facing up. Press the 2" piece lenghtwise with WRONG sides together. Place on top of 1/4 yard piece, lining up raw edges on the top.

Unfold and press the 3/4 yard piece of fabric. Place on top of other pieces with WRONG side facing up toward you. Line up raw edges on the top. Pin the 3 layers of fabric in place.

Now comes the fun part...Roll, or fold the remaining length of the 3/4 yard piece up towardsthe top raw edges of your project.

Fold the bottom of the 1/4 yard piece of fabric over the rolled fabric. Pin in place, lining up with the top raw edges. (Note: the wrong side of the fabric should be facing you.)

Machine stitch all pieces along the top raw edges using a 1/4" seam allowance. Be sure to backstitch this seam.

Turn the entire roll of fabrics. You should now have the pillowcase cuff in place with no exposed seams. Press.

Fold project in half (WRONG sides together) with the pillowcase cuff edges together. Stitch side and bottom using 1/4" seam allowance.

Turn inside out with the RIGHT sides of the fabric together. Stitch the seams, again sing a 1/2" seam allowance. Be sure to backstitch.

Turn and press.
